Social Media Detox

Hey hey, I'm back. If you haven't noticed I took 6 days off from Social Media to spend time with my family on our little break away to Bath. It felt like the right thing to do and it certainly was. Being on social media can feel like its draining all of your energy and taking you away from actually living your life. Not living your life through a lens. So take some time off away from social media. Do whatever you want to do and promise me that you will be really present with the people around you. Get rid of all the anxiety, depression and feeling of worthlessness and really be present in your life. Start to feel recharged and refreshed.

I have known for a few years now, that social media is a way to break people and not to connect people like its made out to be. You just have to look at the amount of mental health issues its caused over the years. I have never suffered with my metal health and I'd like to keep it that way, so you need to know your own triggers that might set off a reaction within your body.

A big one is to learn how to say NO. Don't worry about hurting anyone, you need to look after yourself so by saying no to a certain something especially if it doesn't resonate with you then just say thank you but no thank you. Social media is all about sharing the fun things in your life, but not necessarily sharing the bad things and we all need to share more about the bad stuff because that makes us human but then if we share the bad stuff, we're more likely to get bullied or hurtful comments will be put upon us, which then in turn affects our mental health. This is exactly why you need to have a break from social media.

Go and connect with the people you love. Spend quality time with your loved ones. Really feel them connecting on a deeper level. Social media will always be there so don't worry about missing out on anything. Spend some time doing what you were meant to be doing, reading a book instead of endlessly scrolling. Go out for dinner and actually talk to the people you are with. Go for a walk in nature and really feel the grass in between your toes, really feel the earth on your feet. Run around and play with your children (if you have them) Tickle them, be really present with them. Get out your yoga mat and flow, go with what your body is telling you.

Let go of the anxiousness, stress, apprehensiveness, troubled mind, nervousness, antsy and all the bad things social media comes with. Get back to the life you were meant to be living away from this weirdness. Feel recharged and energised.

Let me know by leaving a comment below, what you do for your social media detox and how often do you do it for your mental health?
