Four Calming Must Be's For The Festive Period

Updated: Jan 25, 2021

As we all know this years festivities are going to be slightly different so lets try and be as kind as we can to ourselves.

Start the day off right with a nice calming tea in bed, maybe Camomile or Cleanse from Pukka. Their teas are amazing and really help you in every day manic life.

Journal your thoughts for the day ahead or the coming days ahead. Set your intentions for you to have a good day and try not to get to worked up over what happens during the course of the day. If something doesn't work out, then no worries. Journal it in the evening. Last year I completely forgot about the Yorkshire puddings still in the oven (the oven was off by the way) but still I forgot them and I was annoyed at my self for forgetting them. Don't worry, this stuff happens. Especially if you are a parent and you've got a million things to do, don't stress.

Then make you way to your mat, Stretch out, do some slow vinyasa flow sun salutations (Click on the video below for how to do a Sun Salutation).

This will get your body moving, stretch out any areas of tightness and bring the endorphins in for you to feel calm and happy.

Meditate once you've stretched out. Find a nice comfortable position, slowly close your eyes and breath. Notice all the sounds around you. Notice your breathing, notice how you are feeling. Allow your thoughts to really come through. If you feel stressed at any point over the festive period them come back to your meditation. You will feel so much calmer and the serotine will kick in, your calming pheromone.

When it comes to food, just don't worry about it. This is really the time where we can all just let our hair down and be free with what we like to eat. One or two days out of your normal routine wont hurt. Once you feel full then just stop eating, you don't have to eat everything that is on your plate. Just don't feel guilty about it.
